There are, of course, plenty of artists around who write their own songs. But, according to analysis by UK music industry magazine Music Week, it takes an average of 4.53 writers to create the biggest hit singles. Drake’s One Dance needed eight writers, while Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk has 13 different credits.


While we still continue to focus on ghostwriters for this week, the theme was King & Queen of ghostwriting in the hip hop industry. And best believe me when i say i searched all the browser histories and articles to whip something up and to my surprise, nobody came close to Diane Warren.

And that’s why for this week we are crowning her the KING of Ghostwriting in the hip-hop history; even though most of her works were hip-hop (soul), no other person comes close to her ghostwriting discography so far in history. So join me this week as we dive into the amazeballs world of KING Diane Warren.



Diane Eve Warren (born September 7, 1956) is an American songwriter, musician and record producer.
Warren, the youngest of three daughters, was born to David and Flora Warren, in the Los Angeles community of Van Nuys, where she said she felt misunderstood and "alienated" as a Jewish child growing up. She was influenced by music through her parents and her sisters who would play music. She began writing music when she was 11 but took a more serious approach at 14, commenting "music saved me."


In the late 1980s she joined forces with the UK music company EMI, where she became the first songwriter in the history of Billboard magazine to have seven hits, all by different artists, on the singles chart at the same time, prompting Peter Reichardt, the UK's Chairman of EMI Music Publishing, to call her "the most important songwriter in the world". She has been rated the third most successful female artist in the UK. Warren has won a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, and has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards. She has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her UK success saw her win an Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors when she received the Special International Award in 2008. She controls rights over her music through her publishing company Realsongs.

Warren has written nine number-one songs and 32 top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Additionally, two of the top 13 hits in the Hot 100's 57-year history were composed by her. Warren's career was jump-started with the success in 1985 of "Rhythm of the Night" by DeBarge. Diane Warren has written for such legends of song as Elton John, Tina Turner, Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Roy Orbison. Artists such as Lady Gaga, Cher, Patti LaBelle, 'N Sync, Gloria Estefan, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Reba McEntire, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Enrique Iglesias, Aerosmith, Ricky Martin, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige and LeAnn Rimes have graced the charts with her songs.
Also, it’s important to state that she doesn’t only write the lyrics but the music as well. In essence, she usually owns all the rights to the songs. Warren herself agrees that she has tapped this universality of message in her songwriting.
